VISA DETAIL
LMIA
An LMIA visa confirms that there is a need for a temporary worker because no Canadian applicants are available to do the job, so the employer is allowed to hire a foreign worker. If an employer needs to hire a temporary worker through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), they will need to apply for an LMIA and pay the required fee.
The goal of an LMIA is to prove that a foreign worker is essential for a specific job position; it must be true that no Canadian worker or permanent resident is available to do the job.
Getting a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is an important step in getting a temporary work permit in Canada. An LMIA application is a lengthy process, and failure to comply with all the formal requirements, and not knowing which requirements are absolutely essential, can result in an application denial.
